Thank you to all who submitted entries in the 2024 Spirit of ’76 Fireworks Fireworks Photo & Video Contest! Winners will be announced in August.

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

We want to see you, your friends, and your family enjoying fireworks. Submissions may include:

  1. People Enjoying Fireworks – The best part of fireworks is bringing friends and family together. Show us people enjoying, selling, buying, loading, or setting up fireworks.
  2. Fireworks In Action – Let’s see your fireworks going off! Be creative (video of your pyromusical, long-exposure or stylistic photos, etc.)
  3. Your Fireworks Stash – What’s in your fireworks haul this year? Let’s see those fireworks stacked up, or out in the field ready to go. Give us a tour!
  4. Retail Product Displays – Retailers, we want to see your best in-store displays of firework products! Show us why folks love to shop for fireworks at your stand, tent, or store. Get creative: artistic shots of products and/or people shopping are highly encouraged.
  5. Power of Pink (NEW!) – If you got the Power of Pink cake this season to benefit breast cancer awareness, we want to see photos and hear your story.

This year, we are giving away $500 in fireworks credit, Spirit of ‘76 SWAG, and an IGNITE module! Here’s how prizes will be determined:

HOW TO SUBMIT

1) Carefully read the contest rules.
2) Capture fireworks photo(s) and/or video(s). You may submit up to 5 photo entries and 2 video entries. Videos under 5 minutes are preferred – show us your highlights!
3) Send your entry or entries, along with your name & contact info, via email to [email protected] by July 17th. Winners will be announced August 16th.
4) Optional – Post your favorite entries on Facebook and tag @76fireworks. We will repost them!

CONTEST RULES

1) No purchase necessary to enter or to win. 

2) Submissions must have been created/captured no earlier than December 2023.

3) Up to five (5) photo submissions AND up to two (2) video submissions are allowed per entrant.

4) Video submissions:

4a) Videos under 5 minutes in duration are preferred (show highlights are great).

4b) Must be steady footage (when in doubt, please use a tripod).

5) Photo submissions:

5a) High resolution images, cropped and edited appropriately, are preferred.

5b) Subject(s) must be in focus.

6) To be eligible to win the prize, you must be at least 18 years old and submit your entry by July 17, 2024.  By entering the contest you are representing to Spirit of ’76, L.L.C., and Spirit is relying upon your representation, that you are the sole owner to the rights of the content submitted and that any other persons shown in the submission have been informed, and understand, that their likeness may be used by Spirit as outlined in these rules.

7) Valid in the fifty United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico only. Void where prohibited. 

8) The prize winners will be selected within the sole, subjective discretion of Spirit of ’76, L.L.C.

9) By entering this contest, all entrants agree that the Spirit of ’76, L.L.C. may use, regardless of whether the entrant is a prize winner or not, the entrants name and pictures/videos presented for marketing, advertising and promotional purposes, in any form whatsoever, without further consideration, unless prohibited by law. Tips for High-Quality Entries

Each year we get hundreds of contest entries! Set your submission(s) up for success by considering the following tips.

  • Use a tripod. When in doubt, avoid blurry or shaky photos and videos by using a tripod or stabilizer. Make sure your subject is in focus.
  • Consider submission categories. We especially love entries that go beyond just fireworks. People enjoying fireworks, people selling fireworks, display set-up and highlights – get creative!
  • Short & sweet video entries preferred. If you’re submitting video, make sure it follows the guidelines on length. Highlights of your fireworks display or pyromusical are great.

Remember: only high quality entries that follow the current year’s submission guidelines will be considered.

Why use an electronic firing system?

Sure, the thrill of hand-firing fireworks on Independence Day can be exhilarating (even if it isn’t the safest), but seeing the bursts from directly underneath doesn’t allow you to watch the fruits of your labor if you’ve put any thought into show choreography.

You can fuse your show, but timing your fuse just right is a tedious and labor-intensive process, and it won’t give you nearly as much control over all aspects of your launch as an electronic firing system can provide at your fingertips.

IGNITE Firing Systems Best Practices: Essential Tips for a Stress-Free 4th of July Fireworks Display

As the summer heats up, Spirit of ’76 and the IGNITE Firing Systems team wanted to share some best practices to help ensure your fireworks display goes off without a hitch. Follow these tips for a smooth, stress-free show and make this season unforgettable.

Shoot fireworks with your smartphone with IGNITE

Interested in shooting your show easily and from a safe distance away with your smartphone? Check out IGNITE Firing Systems modules and our pre-designed fireworks display kits.

Dry Run Your Show

IGNITE Firing Systems module

Prior to the day of your shoot, take your module to the shoot site and place it where you intend to during your show. No igniters should be connected at this point. Fire your show and watch the module and make sure the burst turns white when a cue fires. No need to watch every cue fire, but rather make sure your modules stay connected and everything feels normal during your show including any audio you plan to play.

Additionally, simplify your setup check by using our Quickplug 6-Cue Tester. This compact tool quickly verifies cue activation and ensures your module’s readiness for a seamless show.

Playing Audio to Your Audience

IGNITE Firing Systems Bluetooth Audio PyroCast

We understand that many of our users utilize Bluetooth audio for their shows. While IGNITE fully supports this feature, we do not recommend connecting to multiple Bluetooth audio devices simultaneously, as this can impact reliability and performance.

As an alternative, for a seamless and reliable audio experience, we recommend using Pyrocast, our robust audio broadcasting tool designed specifically for synchronization during your shows. It is an excellent alternative to sending audio via Bluetooth.

Module Colors Matter

IGNITE Firing Systems Module Colors

When scripting your show with multiple colors, ensure you actually use these colors on your modules. If you script a color but don’t use it, the system will try to fire effects on non-existent modules, causing missed cues. Stick to your script’s color plan for smooth execution.

Free-Shooting

IGNITE Firing Systems Free Shooting

To manually fire cues, you must use the free-shoot screen. Firing from the modules screen is not possible.

9V Battery – Use for Emergencies Only

IGNITE Firing Systems Emergency 9V Backup Harness

When using the Emergency 9V Backup Harness, please keep the following in mind:

  • Use the 9V battery as a backup for emergencies only when your LiPo battery is fully drained.
  • The 9V battery won’t fit in the LiPo battery compartment, so the door won’t close properly.
  • For optimal results, use Energizer or Duracell 9V batteries.
  • The 9V battery isn’t “more powerful” than a LiPo battery. The module fires based on current, not voltage, so even though the LiPo battery is 7.4V and the 9V battery is 9V, the LiPo battery is the appropriate choice when available.

Raise Module Off Ground

IGNITE Firing Systems Raise Module Off Ground with Bucket

Raise your module using a five-gallon bucket or other platform. This will help maintain line of sight and reliable communication. Always maintain phone line of sight during shows.

Confirm Signal Strength

IGNITE Firing Systems Signal Strength

Stand at the desired shooting distance from your modules. Connect to the modules using the app and from the modules section, confirm at least two signal bars for each module.

Clip Igniter Onto Fuse

IGNITE Firing Systems How to Connect Clip-On Igniters

Always clamp the mouth of the igniter head on the fuse like a clothespin on a clothesline. This will ensure optimal filament contact with the fuse.

Firing Your Show Out-Of-Range

Before starting a show, you have the option to select if you would like the module to continue firing if it goes out of range.

Keep Fireworks Safety In Mind

In addition to the above Best Practices, please keep fireworks safety in mind when testing and setting up your show. When you are armed or arming, treat your module as a loaded gun. Do not place your body over the trajectory of any fireworks, and treat them as if they could fire at any time. With the Fourth of July fast approaching, the experts at Spirit of ’76 wanted to share a few tips on surefire ways that fireworks retailers can use to promote bigger sales at your tent, stand, or store this season.

#1 – Offer Pre-Designed Display Kits

Some folks would love to have a backyard show, but are unsure where to start. Save your customers time and hassle by offering pre-choreographed display kits.

At our seasonal tent and in our retail store in mid-Missouri, we’ve had tremendous success offering display kits that include the IGNITE firing system. The system makes set-up and launch a breeze, and there’s a good chance the customer will return to stock up on even more pyro to continue using it.

Kits can range from simple 6-cue shows to grand 5-minute or 10-minute displays! We recommend a variety of at least three differently priced offerings, and be sure to have plenty of your show kits at the lowest price point in stock. (At our mid-Missouri retail location, we start our show kits at $159.99.)

#2 – Sell Smartphone-Driven Firing Systems

Not only do entry-level electronic firing systems make it easier than ever for anyone to safely enjoy fireworks, they encourage more purchases, too!

Introducing your customers to the IGNITE firing system is a fantastic way to promote user safety among families and backyard enthusiasts while encouraging bigger budgets and repeat visits at the same time. Once they see how easy it is to set up and launch pyro with the push of a button, they’ll come back for more to fill up those empty cues!

Spirit of ‘76 Warehouse Update: Fire Successfully Extinguished, No Injuries Reported

Boonville, MO — May 28th, 2024 — Spirit of ‘76 Fireworks is pleased to provide an update regarding the fire that occurred at our warehouse in Boonville, Missouri on May 27th, 2024.

We are relieved to announce that the fire has been completely extinguished. It did not impact any of the surrounding buildings or businesses, and no injuries were reported.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Boonville, Cooper County and all of the other first responder crews from surrounding counties for their quick and effective response, ensuring the safety of everyone involved. Thanks to the efforts of the first responders and the safety protocols in place, everyone evacuated the building safely and the fire will have minimal impact on our operations.

The Spirit of ‘76 operations have resumed as of Tuesday, May 28th. We have updated our inventory and are still taking orders for shipping out.

The fight against breast cancer is a personal one for us. Meghan Trulaske Miers, sister of Spirit of ’76 founder and Sky Bacon Fireworks creator John Bechtold, lost her battle against breast cancer in April 2024.

In Meghan’s memory, John developed this profoundly pink firework to raise funds for those still fighting.
